Salut Mes Amis et Ma Famille!
This is the start of my blog that I will keep while I am studying in Paris this semester. I thought this would be the best and easiest way for anyone who wanted to stay updated on my travels. Internet availability permitting.. I hope to update this several times a week with things I have observed, trips I have taken and pictures.
That being said, I’m leaving in three days and I am a mix of incredibly excited and nervous. My roommate, Jackie, happens to be doing the same program as me in Paris so we are traveling overseas together. She arrives in Providence tomorrow and we leave out of Boston on Sunday. We arrive in London at 5:45 Monday morning at Heathrow airport and have to trek across the city to Gatwick for our flight to Seville that afternoon.
This is what I am most excited about.. before we even get to Paris we will be spending a whole week in Seville, Spain with my best friend Emma!! Emma has been studying in Seville since August through a program run by Cornell and is spending the remainder of her junior year there. I have not seen her since the beginning of August so I am thrilled to spend an entire week with her. Jackie and I also have plans to spend a night in Granada where we are visiting the Alhambra, something I studied in Humanities my senior year.
From Seville we fly to Paris on the morning of February 2nd. Everyone from my program will be staying in the same hotel the first night and then we will be introduced to the families we will be living with the day after we get there. The homestay is really what I’m nervous about. The reason why I want to study in Paris is to learn French way better than I have been taught in school. The homestay is definitely where I will practice my French the most so I just hope that I get along with my family really well. I’m also a little nervous because I haven’t spoken French since last semester and I’m just going to be thrown into it… but that is probably best for me.
As of now, my packing consists of piles of clothes on my floor… I should probably get on that.
